Come help collect native prairie seed at Oronoco Prairie SNA. Located just a few miles northeast of Rochester, this site occupies a small valley with hills and steep-sided slopes, its terrain dissected by intermittent streams that flow toward the nearby Zumbro River. Join contract naturalist, Sara Holger, in collecting seeds to be used in future prairie restoration projects.
Tools, instructions, and good camaraderie will be provided. Bring water, snacks, and dress for working in the weather. If you have your own gloves you'd like to use, please bring those as well. Footwear appropriate for outdoor work/hiking is recommended. There are no maintained trails, public restrooms nor access to drinking water on this site.
