Enjoy learning about the Prairies & Potholes biome of Minnesota at the beautiful Ney Nature Center in Henderson, MN. Situated on the bluffs of the Minnesota River, Ney is uniquely located on the cusp of two biomes. Previously farmed, our 445 acre park contains wooded uplands and ravines, as well as prairies, creeks, vernal ponds, and a variety of wildlife.

Late Summer and into Autumn is a wonderful time to learn about this biome! We will have a variety of native plants in bloom, the monarch migration will be happening, and there will be plenty of opportunities to get out and explore this amazing biome!

Through an engaging mix of lecture, activities, field investigations, hikes, we will study the geology, plant communities, wildlife, ecology, aquatic systems, human impacts, and more of the prairie pothole region of western Minnesota. Participants will complete a small group capstone project and attend two outdoor field trips to complete the course. Please notify us of any accommodations that you need so that we can offer you appropriate support. Beginners are welcome!

Participants may elect to come the weekend before the training and explore the Minnesota River Valley on their own.

Training is limited to 20 participants.

The course cost is $295 and includes course manuals and supplies.
