We will be collecting native plants seeds.

MUST BRING

water
snacks
weather appropriate clothing- rain jacket/sun hat etc.

Recommended gear

Tall rubber rain boots you can tuck your pants into- helps significantly with Poison Ivy
Belt/Carabiners to attach seed jugs to belt loops

ALERTS

Dogs are not allowed on the Preserve. They have a tendency to flush out and chase, possibly kill, our small ground nesting birds.
Snakes are numerous. We will likely see Garter Snakes, maybe Bull or Hognose, and a Racer if we’re very lucky! Non are venomous, but know that they are a common occurrence here.
Poison Ivy grows throughout the Preserve. We will try to stay away from areas where it is heavily concentrated but it’s hard to completely avoid.

We will provide nitrile style gloves that protect against Poison Ivy and other irritants, but leather or gardening gloves also work.

Mobility needs: The ground is uneven and we will (usually quite slowly) walk maybe up to a couple miles. Collecting seed involves bending to plant height -sometimes as low as 3-4 inches off the ground.
