Join the National Loon Center's volunteer orientation to become a naturalist guide aboard the pontoon, The StewardShip. As a guide, you'll lead fun and educational excursions on Cross Lake to watch loons, birds, and other wildlife seen on the water.

Volunteer guides are needed for 1.5 hours trips on Friday and Saturday mornings May-September. We'll provide you with all the loony information needed to guide the trips. Learn more about the NLC's on-water programs on our website.

The training takes place on the StewardShip pontoon, docked at the public docks of the Cross Lake Recreation Area. Park at the Day Use Area and follow the sidewalks towards the bay and docks.
