Researchers at the University of Minnesota are studying the infestation of honeysuckle (Lonicera) species with the invasive insect pest spotted-wing Drosophila (SWD). The team is seeking volunteers to track flowering and fruit phenology of native and non-native honeysuckle species in Minnesota by submitting observations to iNaturalist from May-September 2025 to help them achieve timely collection of ripe fruit for analysis. Dedicated volunteers can also work with the team directly to assist in fruit collection. Here are some key details:

If interested in volunteering to collect fruit, please COMPLETE THIS INTEREST FORM by June 1, 2025 and the team will contact you with additional details. Feel free to contact Researcher David Tork (torkx001@umn.edu) with any questions.
