Recommended gear

Tall rubber rain boots you can tuck your pants into- helps significantly with Poison Ivy
-weed puller, trowel, skinny shovel- we have a limited number here at the shop

ALERTS

Dogs are not allowed on the Preserve. They have a tendency to flush out and chase, possibly kill, our small ground nesting birds.
Snakes are numerous. We will likely see Garter Snakes, maybe Bull or Hognose, and a Racer if we’re very lucky! Non are venomous, but know that they are a common occurrence here.
Poison Ivy grows throughout the Preserve. We will try to stay away from areas where it is heavily concentrated but it’s hard to completely avoid.

We will provide nitrile style gloves that protect against Poison Ivy. You may use your personal gloves if you prefer leather or gardening gloves.

Mobility needs: Pulling Cow Vetch involves repeated kneeling/bending to ground level and standing. We will not be on trails. The ground is uneven and we will (usually quite slowly) walk maybe up to a mile.
