NWGL - Headwaters Science Center & Lake Bemidji State Park
Have you always wanted to learn more about the Northwoods-Great Lakes of Minnesota?
Join us for an exciting 11-week class covering geology- plants- animals- cultural history and ecology. Learn with others with similar interests and share your own Northwoods knowledge.
This class starts February 1, 2010 and runs weekly through April 12.
Class Dates & Times: February 1, 8, 22, March 1,8,15,22,29 April 5,12 Two required Saturday field trips are also included with dates To Be Announced.
All Classes are Monday evenings 6:30-9:00 PM
Class will be held at the Headwaters Science Center in Bemidji and Lake Bemidji State Park. First night report to the Headwaters Science Center.
Attendance at all sessions is required.
Upon completion of the class- Minnesota Master Naturalist Volunteers are required to do 40 hours of volunteer service each year to maintain an active status.
Cost for the class is $200.
Scholarships are available.

Instructor Information
Graduated from Bemidji State University with degrees in Elementary Education and middle school math and science. Started a nonprofit organization in 2015 called "The Nature Connection" with a mission to "Enhance awareness, appreciation, respect, and exploration of nature." We provide engaging and educational programming about Minnesota wildlife using live animals.

B.S. in Fisheries and Wildlife Biology from Iowa State University in 1994
Worked at Itasca State Park since 2001, prior to Itasca, worked in Iowa for 5 years as a county naturalist, worked for U of M Extension doing after school programming as well as worked at other private non profits providing environmental education programming.
Much of my interests are in plants- wildflowers, trees, etc. I also have interest in history and the historical interpretation of the area.
