Have you wanted to dive deeper into some of the topics covered during the North Woods, Great Lakes course? Well look no further than the Minnesota Master Naturalist Ecology Camp Retreat! Hosted at Long Lake Conservation Center, this three day, two night nature extravaganza will explore three main topics: “Birds of MN”, “Lichens, Mosses and Mushrooms”, and “Freshwater Ecology” through concurrent sessions led by local and regional experts. Activities include conducting bird counts, lichen ID, freshwater mussel and their imperial status, as well as guided hikes across Long Lakes 760 acres. Guest speakers and Long Lake staffers will be your instructors.
LLCC has modern dormitory style lodging, with private bathrooms and showers, as well as an amazing chef! Twenty five Individual rooms are available, or shared rooms with 2 or 4 people are also an option. Sessions/Activities will run from 8am to 5pm each day. There will be additional optional evening activities including stargazing with the Minnesota Astronomical Society.

What to expect in depth: There will be three main topics covered over the course of this retreat. Each participant will have the opportunity to attend one of three “tracks” which will have different sessions covering topics related to that “track”. Participants can switch from track to track or stay with one track for the entirety of their trip. Regardless of what track folks want to attend, all participants will have the opportunity to go on a field trip to the Rice Lake National Wildlife Refuge.

Participation in this program will fulfill all of your advanced training hours for 2024!
