This advanced training is full but you can click "Take Course" and put yourself on the waitlist.

The Sax-Zim Bog is well known as a location to see northern owls, like Great Gray Owl and Northern Hawk Owl. Visitors from all over the US and world come to our area to experience the wonder of these birds. Most of the time visitors see these birds, snap a few photos, and continue on looking for other birds of the boreal forest. Very few get to spend time watching these birds, observing their behaviors, or take the time to consider the biology of these amazing creatures! This Advanced Training will consider all things owl, from hooo lives in Minnesota, to the interesting behaviors shown by owls, and more! There will be time to look for an owl or two (depending on the species present this winter!).

This field trip will include indoor and outdoor portions, so do dress accordingly. Please bring optics (extra spotting scopes are always helpful), cameras, and any field guides you might need for a day of birding. Plan on bringing a lunch and any snacks that you might need through the day. Carpooling will be helpful during this field trip, so if you are comfortable being a carpool driver, please let Head Naturalist Clinton know following your registration for the course, by emailing naturalist@saxzim.org.

The course cost is $45 and includes course manuals and supplies.
