The Outreach Ambassador will staff River Keepers booth at outreach events. They will answer questions about River Keepers, our events, and programs, promote River Keepers events and activities, and train Outreach Volunteer Assistants to teach a fun hands-on activity for youth. Outreach events can occur Monday-Sunday, sometime between the hours of 9 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Purpose:
Outreach events are important to fulfill River Keepers mission by promoting our organization, sharing information for the public to be able to learn, sustain, and enjoy the Red River, and offering hands-on educational activities for youth and/or adults.
Qualifications
- Must be friendly
- Must enjoy working with all ages, backgrounds and abilities
- Volunteers should have a sense of responsibility for safety of self and others
- Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with the public
- Must be able to lift 20 pounds
- Have access to a vehicle to transport outreach and activity supplies
- Ambassadors are accountable to River Keepers full time staff depending on the event/activity
- Act in the best interest of River Keepers
- Pick up/drop off outreach event supplies
- Arrive on time for scheduled events.
- Set up and take down River Keepers booth at outreach event
- Share information about River Keepers, our events and activities with the public
- Train Outreach Volunteer Assistants
- Take pictures of Outreach Volunteer Assistants, the public doing the activity, and the booth
- Attend River Keepers orientation
- Attend one outreach event as an Outreach Volunteer Assistant with staff prior to attending an outreach event without full time staff
- Attend a minimum of three outreach events as an ambassador within 12 months
- Make an impact in our community by helping the community LEARN, SUSTAIN, and ENJOY the Red River.
