This Master Naturalist Training focuses on the North Woods, Great Lakes (NWGL) biome found in northeastern Minnesota. You will gain valuable skills for exploring the animals, plants, geology, hydrology, ecology, cultural history and future of the NWGL area of Minnesota. Classes will meet for approximately eleven weeks from February through mid-April 2018, and attendance is required at all sessions. Meeting times are 6:30 to 9:00 on Tuesdays at the Headwaters Science Center, and as the weather warms up, at Lake Bemidji State Park (LBSP, where a Park Permit will be required). Through two Saturday day-long field trips and in sessions at LBSP, both indoor and outdoor classroom learning will be included. Participants will complete a group capstone service project, to be presented at the final session in April. Instructors Janet Nelson and Janet Moen are charter members of the Bemidji area Master Naturalist Chapter, Bogs n’ Logs, and both have diverse teaching experiences. Guest speakers will include specialists who will join us in select sessions.

The course cost is $275 and includes course manuals and supplies.
