Located in Britt, Minnesota, Laurentian Environmental Learning Center Map provides year round environmental education opportunities for all ages. Staying here for three weekends will provide the opportunity to be submersed in the ecosystems of Northern Minnesota --- both during and after class! The center is located on Arrowhead Lake, features bog habitats along with the diverse forest ecosystems of the Superior National Forest. All within easy access! Participants will be able to see changes in the plants and animals throughout the course, as the program starts in March and ends in May.

Staying for three weekends at Laurentian will allow participants to enjoy free time activities such as canoeing, hiking, snow shoeing, sauna and much more (weather dependent). There will be an opportunity to explore our themed classrooms and see the educational aspects of a residential environmental learning center.

Dates include the following: Friday March 27th at 5pm - Sunday March 29th ending at 1pm

Friday April 24th at 5pm - Sunday April 26th ending at 1pm

Friday May 29th at 5pm - Sunday May 31st ending at 1 pm

Cost is $675, which includes the $275 class fee and $400 for food and lodging for all three weekends.

The course cost is $275 and includes course manuals and supplies.

Laurentian Environmental Center is a public residential educational facility that combines science, environmental education, leadership training, and outdoor skills recreation programs. It is accredited by The Commission on International and Trans-Regional Accreditation. It is owned and operated by Mounds View Public Schools for use by people from throughout Minnesota and the Midwest.



Education programs are hands-on, discovery-oriented and aligned with Minnesota state graduation standards. Qualified and caring LEC staff lead instruction through an inquiry method of teaching and learning. Each of the program staff holds a degree in one or more of the following areas: biology, natural resources management, outdoor recreation and education, educational psychology, environmental studies, or education.
